| Germany preparing to rejoin the EuroDASS? |
Date : 1st September 1997 Source : Unspecified Author : PSO |
It's been reported in Flight International (3rd - 9th September) that Germany is preparing to rejoin the EuroDASS project.
There are however problems concerning development of the TRD (Towed Radar Decoy). DASA has invested money in its own system whereas EuroDASS makes use of a GEC Marconi system (developed from Ariel which is used by the RAF Tornado fleet), however the GEC models development is in a more advanced state than DASA's. It is however likely that some compromise will be reached.

| Are there serious problems with Eurofighter's flight control |
Date : 1st June 1997 Source : Unspecified Author : PSO |
A report in Focus, the RAF's internal magazine suggests that serious problems exist with the Eurofighter's flight control system (FCS). An official and embarrassed response from the RAF and MoD reply's by saying that the test program is still only mid-way complete. In addition the design of the Eurofighter with forward placed canards places a greater strain on the FCS but results in superior maneuverability.
The Russian manufacturer Mikoyan-Guryevich was the first to notice this Focus statement, they promptly offered the German government its MiG-29M!
